At what age should I start training my puppy?
Puppies start learning very early in life, most of it informally via experiences with the external environment including its mother and littermates.
As DogCentric utilises dog friendly methods you can, and should, start training your puppy as soon as it comes home. Puppy Training offers a perfect solution for those who want to get a head-start on their puppy´s training and prefer to do so in the convenience of their home or for those who wish to avail themselves of the benefits individual, customised attention offers.

Is my dog too old to undergo training?
While it is generally easier to shape the behaviour of a puppy or younger dog than a mature dog, a dog is never too old to learn.

Are DogCentric methods effective for large dogs?
Absolutely! The methods we use at DogCentric are used to train other species like dolphins, killer whales, birds and even humans and are suitable and effective for dogs of all shapes and sizes.

Will my dog be dependent on treats when the training is over?
In motivational methodology, the use of treats, praise or toys is earned by the dog when they offer the right behaviour. The frequency of treats reduces once the dog learns the desired behaviour, however intermittent distribution of treats ensures the desired behaviour remains strong.
To ensure your dog doesn´t become a porky pooch simply allocate some of its daily meal ration for training treats.

How often do I need to practice with my dog in-between lessons?
Unless you have chosen the Effortless Training option you will need to practice with your dog in between sessions to ensure success. This training can be incorporated in your everyday interactions with your dog so doesn´t necessarily mean a big time obligation, but does require commitment.

Why choose an internationally certified behaviour counsellor?
Certification by an independent body is a credible means of measuring an instructor's knowledge and skills, while acting as a credible barometer for dog owners in choosing a trainer. Certification is an indication of how well-versed an individual is with important concepts, such as Operant and Classical Conditioning, as well as the ability to provide quality instruction.
The advantage of an internationally trained and certified behaviour counsellor is they bring knowledge and expertise from some of the world´s leading markets in dog training and behaviour modification, such as the United States and the United Kingdom.
